Francisco Romão is a film and television director with a passion for telling real stories that leave a lasting impact. His work is grounded on everyday life, authentic emotions and remarkable people. With a naturalistic eye and attention to detail, he crafts visually striking films with compelling narratives.
In 2019, he directed Terra Ardida, a documentary that won the Sophia Student Award from the Portuguese Academy of Cinema and became the first student film to be selected as part of the National Cinema Plan. His background in both documentary and fiction allows him to blend cinematic aesthetics with the every day reality.
Francisco has worked with brands and institutions such as Banco Alimentar, Primor, Rock in Rio Lisboa, Unilever, Decathlon, Ajitama, Leroy Merlin and TAP. Notable highlights include Amores Perfeitos (Primor) and Banco Alimentar – Campanha de Natal.
In television, he has worked extensively with children, directing multiple seasons of the RTP children’s series A Minha Cena and Aconteceu Mesmo!, selected for the Prix Jeunesse International 2024 award. His direct engagement with young people has deeply sharpened his approach, allowing him to capture their authenticity and spontaneity.
